Although there has been little support for a cycleway from Golding Barn to Small Dole, a Small Dole resident feels there would be lots of support for the provision of a cycle track from Small Dole to Henfield.
Certainly the amount of traffic including heavy lorries, car transporters etc. on the road between the two Villages is horrendous and this undoubtedly deters most people from attempting to cycle there.
Such a link would complement the footway from Woodmancote to Henfield, and encourage more people who visit Henfield from its outlying villages to walk/cycle rather than use their cars.

I fully support cycle paths to extend the route along the river from Shoreham towards Henfield. I work at Sussex Wildlife Trust and like other staff cycle regularly from Hove/Shoreham area. The reserve at Woods Mill also attracts thousands of visitors each year. My cycle ride to work is an achievable distance but can be terrifying along that road, particularly given the high level of lorries accessing the industrial estates and landfill site.
Other staff who live in Henfield also cite fear of riding on the road as the only reason they drive from Henfield to Small Dole on a daily basis.
I would welcome and support any moves to improve cycle routes away from traffic in this area.
Best regards

Surely a far cheaper solution would be a cycle-track from Small Dole westwards to the Downs link - this would allow cyclists direct access from Small Dole to Henfield or Steyning at a much smaller cost and in a much nicer environment.
