As the former County Councillor for Bramber Castle I was pleased to attend this Opening this morning by Nick Herbert, MP for Arundel & South Downs.
As constituents of Bramber Castle will know, from Focus leaflets and this website, I campaigned for many years to have a an alternative and safer Downs Link crossing of the A283 in Bramber provided and had worked with County Council officers and the West Sussex Local Access Forum for this to be achieved. I also bid for funding for the Access for All project from the County Council and had gained approval for a grant of £25,000 from the County Big Society Fund in 2012.
The Opening today of the two improvements for local residents, for those with mobility disabilities, walkers, and for use of the Downs Link, horse riders and cyclists, is a great result for the Steyning & District Community Partnership and the Local Access Forum marking the completion of the two improved and extended routes.
I was delighted to mark the occasion by presenting the Certificate of Funding for the Access for All project to Martin Leigh-Pollitt of the Steyning Community Partnership.
