“Thank you for signing the petition against the draft Minerals Plan proposal to extract sand at Ham Farm, Steyning.
There is now to be an exhibition at the Steyning Centre this coming Monday, 23rd May starting at 3pm when Planning Officers from West Sussex County Council will be on hand to set out the proposals in more detail and answer residents’ questions. This is a drop in session lasting until approximately 8pm, but the Parish Council intend to meet around 7pm to discuss this and to ask their own questions of the Planning Officers. Hopefully as many residents as possible will also attend the Parish Council meeting.
In addition there will be a meeting of the Chanctonbury County Local Committee at the Steyning Centre on 6th June next starting at 7pm. This will be an opportunity for residents again to hear the views of the Planning Officers but also those of the four Chanctonbury county councillors. Again it is hoped that as many local people as possible will attend.
As a community we need to use these opportunities to highlight our concerns over the effect the quarry will have on air quality; traffic and congestion on local roads; our historic buildings and landscape; nature conservation; local water courses and public rights of way to name just a few. Please attend these meetings if you can to make your views known.
